Designed for beginners, this course introduces essential skills like breath holding techniques, safety protocols, and proper body positioning. With a strong focus on safety and individual progress, our experienced instructors guide you in a relaxed, supportive environment. No experience is required just a sense of adventure!


Apnea Total’s personal approach ensures you build confidence at your own pace while enjoying the stunning waters of the Aran Islands.

  • Digital Manual: Covers freediving theory, breathing techniques, equalization, and safety.
  • Professional Instructor Guidance: 1 instructor: 3 students ratio ensures personalized training and safety.
  • Full Diving Gear: Includes wetsuits, fins, mask, snorkel, weights, and safety equipment.
  • Digital Qualification Card: An internationally recognized Apnea Total certification, allowing dives up to 20 meters and progression to advanced courses.

Day 1 (10:00 - 15:00)

  • Check-in@ 10:00 – Meet your instructor and fellow freedivers
  • Theory Session– Freediving basics, equipment, equalization, and breathing techniques
  • Boat Departure@ 12:30 – Open water session: fun dive, skills, and practice
  • Return & Debrief@ 15:00 – Wrap-up and questions


Day 2 (10:00 - 15:00)

  • Check-in@ 10:00 – Meet at the dive school
  • Buddy System & Rescue Theory– Safety and teamwork in freediving
  • Pranayama Breathing– Techniques for relaxation and breath control
  • Boat Departure@ 12:30 – Open water session: skills, deeper dives, and practice
  • Return & Debrief@ 15:00 – Certification and celebration
  • Personal Swimwear and Towel: Bring your swimwear and a towel to dry off after your dive.
  • Drinking Water: Staying hydrated is key, so bring a water bottle to keep yourself refreshed.
  • Warm Clothes (in Cooler Months): Pack comfortable, warmer clothing for stretching and breathing exercises before and after the dive, especially if the weather is cool.

Yes, you need basic swimming skills to enjoy the course.

It's ok if it is light. However, it is not the best time to freedive if you have a heavy runny nose or cold. This can make equalizing difficult and painful.

Yes, the water is cold, however, you will have the appropriate gear to keep you warm.

Yes, but it is best to keep your stomach light before sessions to preserve oxygen when diving. Something light like fruit or granola with yoghurt is recommended.

Similar to coffee, tea or high-sugar drinks, try to refrain from them as they raise your heart rate.
